Are Eggs Good For You?

Since year we’ve heard that eggs are not good for you, until quite recently when studies have actually shown the opposite!

Eggs are loaded with nutrition and contain almost all vitamins that we need, except from vitamin C.

A normal large egg provides more than a third of the daily requirement of selenium, vitamin E and B 12. Most vitamins and antioxidants found in the yolk.

An egg is almost a complete meal served in a natural, environmentally friendly packaging, super easy to bring with you as a snack. And in Switzerland we are quite lucky to find the already boiled eggs in any supermarket.

eggBelieve me, the easiest and healthiest snack when you are dying of hunger, 2 eggs and you are good to go for another 3 hours! Nutrition professionals are often writing bad healthy foods, like: Red meat, cheese, coconut oil… to name a few.

But the worst example is their bad writing against eggs, which are among the healthiest food on the planet. Historically, eggs have been considered unhealthy because they contain cholesterol.

A large egg contains 212mg of cholesterol, which is a lot compared to most other foods. However, it has been proven, that eggs and dietary cholesterol do NOT badly affect cholesterol levels in the blood.

In fact, eggs raise the good cholesterol. Results to a new meta-analysis from 2013 discovered that eggs had no association with either heart disease or stroke in otherwise healthy people.

Eggs are a nutritious, protein rich food with a strong impact on satiety. Studies show that eating eggs for breakfast can help you lose weight!!

To top things off, eggs are cheap, taste awesome and go with almost any food.

But… as with anything: don’t overdo it… Stick to 2-3 eggs/day, too much of anything is in the end not good for you
